Ronahî: Yesterday we reported the fire at Kobanê prison. Today thousands of the city’s residents escorted the remains of the nine prisoners to the city cemetery.

Ronahî: Their names were read out: Ehmed Mihemed Eqîl, Bozan Dalî, Şêrewan Şevxan, Elî Îsa, Ezîz Reşîd, Delîl Şêx Elî, Xalid Mihemed, Mehmûd Mistefa and Elî Eqîle. During the ceremony a photograph of the fighter from Hesekê, Samî Şêxmûs Hiso, who lost his life in an attack, was also carried.

Kamîran: Nine people in a two-day fire inside a prison. This is not only a security incident; it raises questions of responsibility.

Ronahî: Exactly. Îlham Ehmed, Co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration, met in Kobanê with the Deputy Governor of Aleppo Province, Elî Henora, and the Director of Security, Mecid El Dîn El Şêx, and announced the formation of an investigation committee.

Ronahî: Mazlûm Ebdî, Adviser to the Syrian Presidency, offered condolences to the families and said the concerned parties have begun a wide-ranging and transparent investigation whose results will be made public in due course. He also met the Administrator of the Kobanê Region, Îbrahîm Muslim; according to them, in addition to the nine who lost their life, seventeen others were injured.

Kamîran: Yet we still do not know how the fire started — that remains an open question.

Ronahî: Indeed, none of the information available so far has identified the cause of the fire. Both sides have spoken only of the investigation and of new precautions.

Kamîran: Let us turn to economic matters. In the Cizîrê region the transitional government’s decision on fuel prices has brought roads and markets to a standstill.

Ronahî: In Til Temir residents have blocked the international M-four highway for the second day, demanding that the price increase be reversed. In the city of Çilaxa markets have not opened and public transport has almost ceased.

Ronahî: The effects go beyond the roads: in Hesekê residents are complaining about the prices of bread, transport, fuel and electricity, and they say heating oil has still not been distributed even though winter is approaching.

Kamîran: So the same decision has produced the same complaints in all three areas — prices are rising while incomes remain unchanged.

Ronahî: In short, yes. This is happening at the moment the energy and fuel sectors are being transferred to the transitional government; farmers are also still waiting for payment for their harvest.

Kamîran: The Kurdish-language activities we mentioned yesterday have also continued.

Ronahî: Yes. Today residents and students took to the streets in Til Temir, Dêrik and Amûdê. Their demand is that Kurdish become a core subject in teaching materials, not merely three lessons a week.

Ronahî: In Qamişlo the Democratic Islam Congress also issued a statement, read by Mele Silêman Ehmed Elî, expressing support for the right to education in the Kurdish language.

Kamîran: And the root of the disagreement is a decision taken last month.

Ronahî: Yes. On the twenty-seventh of August two thousand twenty six the transitional government amended the Ministry of Education’s regulations; Kurdish was recognised as a national language, yet the number of lessons was reduced. Teachers and students in Hesekê say three lessons are not enough.

Ronahî: Two developments concerning Iran. The first: last night attacks with rockets and drones were carried out on Suleymaniyah, targeting the headquarters of Kurdish parties.

Kamîran: What do we know about the outcome?

Ronahî: Nothing. No information on the result of the attack has been obtained, and the Kurdish parties have issued no statements. This report comes from an Iranian agency and we are presenting it as a claim.

Ronahî: The second: PJAK issued a statement saying that its member Sîrwan Hebîbî was detained by Iranian forces on the ninth of September in the city of Kamyaran and has been missing since then. According to the party, he was captured in an ambush and subjected to torture. There has been no response from Tehran on this matter.

Kamîran: Today is also the fourth anniversary of the death of Jîna Emînî.

Ronahî: Yes. Her father, Emced Emînî, issued a message saying that after four years their pain has not eased. Kongra Star and the women’s defence forces of Rojhilatê Kurdistan also released anniversary statements.

Kamîran: And before we finish, a report from Ukraine.

Ronahî: In an attack on the warehouses of an agricultural company in the city of Pryluky in the Chernihiv region, three people lost their life and seven others were injured.

Ronahî: Regional police said the building was damaged, but the type of weapon has not been determined. Moscow has issued no statement on the incident.

Kamîran: So here too, as in Suleymaniyah, only one side has spoken.
