What is Extra Usage?
Extra usage allows subscribers to paid mazdek AI plans (Pro, Max) to continue using the platform seamlessly after reaching their included usage limits. When enabled, your usage beyond plan limits is billed at pay-as-you-go rates from your prepaid balance.
How It Works
You use mazdek AI normally within your plan's included limits
When you reach a usage limit (e.g., chat tokens, TTS characters, ASR minutes), the system checks your extra usage balance
If you have sufficient balance and extra usage is enabled, your request proceeds normally
The cost is automatically deducted from your prepaid balance at PAYG rates
If your balance is insufficient, the request is blocked with a quota exceeded error
How to Enable
Go to Settings > Usage
Find the Extra Usage toggle
Enable it — you'll be prompted to add a payment method if you haven't already
Add funds to your balance from Settings > Billing
Optionally configure Auto-reload to automatically top up your balance
Pay-as-you-go Rates
Extra usage is billed at the following rates when your plan limits are exceeded:
API key usage is billed at premium rates. See the API documentation for details.
Volume discounts: 10% off at $100+, 20% off at $500+, 30% off at $1,000+ monthly spend.
Spending Controls
Monthly Spending Limit
Set a maximum amount you're willing to spend on extra usage per month. When this limit is reached, extra usage is paused until the next billing cycle. Set to $0 for unlimited spending.
Auto-reload
Automatically top up your balance when it drops below a threshold. Configure the threshold amount and the reload amount from Settings > Billing.
Minimum top-up amount is $5.00.
Credits expire after 365 days from purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I disable extra usage?
Yes, you can disable it anytime from Settings > Usage. When disabled, requests that exceed your plan limits will be blocked.
When do my plan limits reset?
Plan limits reset monthly on your billing cycle date. You can see the exact reset date in Settings > Usage.
Is extra usage available on the Free plan?
Extra usage is available on all paid plans (Pro, Max, Enterprise). Free plan users need to upgrade to a paid plan first.
How is my balance charged?
Your balance is deducted atomically after each request completes. The system calculates the exact cost based on actual usage (tokens consumed, audio duration, characters processed).
What happens if my balance runs out mid-request?
The system checks your balance before processing. If your balance is sufficient to start, the request completes even if the actual cost slightly exceeds your remaining balance.
