What is Extra Usage?
Extra usage lets you keep using mazdek AI after you reach a limit included in your plan. It works on every plan, Free included: once a limit runs out, further use is paid from your prepaid credit at the pay-as-you-go rates below. Credit is one shared balance for all services.
How It Works
You use mazdek AI normally within your plan's included limits
When you reach a usage limit (e.g., chat tokens, TTS characters, ASR minutes), the system checks your extra usage balance
If you have sufficient balance and extra usage is enabled, your request proceeds normally
The exact cost is deducted from your credit at PAYG rates. Amounts smaller than a cent are added up and charged once they reach a whole cent, never rounded up per request
If your balance is insufficient, the request is blocked with a quota exceeded error
How to set it up
Go to Settings → Usage
The Extra usage switch is on by default. Turn it off there if credit should never be used
Add credit with Buy extra usage (also under Settings → Billing). Minimum top-up: $5
Optionally set a Monthly spending limit to cap how much credit is spent per month
Optionally turn on Auto-reload to top up automatically when your balance runs low (needs a saved card)
Pay-as-you-go Rates
Once a plan limit is reached, further use is charged from your credit at these rates:
Costs are calculated exactly: amounts below a cent are carried over, not rounded up per request. Songs in Standard mode never use credit.
Text that was already sent earlier in the same chat and is read again counts less than new text.
API key usage is billed at premium rates. See the API documentation for details.
Spending Controls
Monthly Spending Limit
Set the most you want to spend on extra usage in a calendar month. When it is reached, extra usage pauses until the 1st of the next month (UTC). Leave it at $0 for no limit.
Auto-reload
Tops up your balance automatically when it drops below a threshold you choose. Set the threshold and the reload amount under Settings → Usage or Billing; a saved card is required.
Minimum top-up: $5.
Credits you buy never expire — they stay in your balance until you use them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I disable extra usage?
Yes. Turn off the Extra usage switch under Settings → Usage. While it is off, requests beyond your plan limits are blocked and your credit is not touched.
When do my plan limits reset?
Plan limits reset at the start of every calendar month (UTC). The exact date is shown under Settings → Usage.
Can I use extra usage on the Free plan?
Yes. Every plan, Free included, can add credit and keep using every product after a limit runs out. You pay only for what you use.
How is my balance charged?
After each request completes, its exact cost (tokens, seconds of audio, characters, pages) is deducted from your credit in one atomic step. Fractions of a cent are carried over to the next request instead of being rounded up.
What happens if my balance runs out mid-request?
Your balance is checked before a request starts. If it is enough to start, the request finishes even if the final cost turns out slightly higher; your balance never goes below zero.
